about Us

GBS a studio for everyone

GBS = Goat Barn Studio

Founded in 2004 by artist Robert W. Maxwell, JR. (Robbie), GBS is dedicated to creating art projects that promote special needs awareness and special needs participation.

We are committed to inclusivity, creativity, and social impact.

Our unique approach combines art with special needs awareness, creating a platform for promoting understanding and acceptance within the community.

Through our projects, we aim to break down barriers and foster empathy, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive society.

Over 500,000 individuals with neurodiversity will be turning 18 and entering the workforce within the next decade.

Neurodiversity is an untapped resource. GBS works with individuals who love arts and animation to better prepare them to enter the workforce.

Autism impacts 1 in 59 individuals. According to the common statistics, less than 19% of individuals with autism and other different abilities are employed full time or under employed (regardless of their education, IQ or skills.) Unfortunately, these individuals are often completely overlooked despite the unique and amazing creative skills as artists, musicians, and storytellers.

GBS a studio for everyone hopes to change the world’s perception by demonstrating the incredible talents of individuals on the spectrum while providing transformative programs to help maximize their potential, both personally and professionally.

Founder & President, Artist

Robert W. Maxwell, JR.

Robbie Maxwell founded GBS a studio for everyone in 2004.

A graphic design major in college, Maxwell has always created different forms of artwork. He creates sculpture stone and bronze work. Before Maxwell’s success in college and in his career, he learned first-hand about the challenges growing up in SPED. Maxwell knew he would have to overcome and he is more than willing to talk about his personal experiences in order to help special needs people understand that they are not alone, and that there is hope.

That is the goal of GBS is not awareness, but love and education.” Robert is the father of Mason and Will. He started GBS to make a better world for them.

“There was a time when I was in a classroom with the other ‘normal’ kids treating me differently and whispering about the special-ed kids, when we were just out of ear shot. That was the world the Weeb was born from.”

— Robbie Maxwell, Founder of GBS a studio for everyone
